Male Urinary Incontinence
ProACT uses two small balloons placed next to the urethra to support it. Their size can be adjusted in the office, so results build gradually.
After placement
- Mild soreness between the scrotum and anus for several days.
- Light activity right away. Avoid heavy lifting and straddle activities until I clear you.
Adjustments
- Starting several weeks after placement, we add small amounts of fluid to the balloons through ports under the skin of the scrotum.
- It's a quick office visit with local numbing. Most men need 1 to 3 adjustments.
Protecting the device
- Tell any doctor about the balloons before a urinary catheter or scope.
Call right away
Call the office at (516) 535-1900, or go to the nearest emergency room after hours, if you have:
- You can't urinate
- Fever or chills
- Redness, swelling, or pain over a port that keeps getting worse
