Robotic Pyeloplasty: Recovery and Stent Care

  • Most patients stay one night in the hospital.
  • An internal stent (a thin tube from kidney to bladder) protects the repair. It usually stays about 4 to 6 weeks and is removed in the office with a small camera.
  • Stent symptoms are common: flank pain when you urinate, urgency, frequency, and blood in the urine. Medication can help.
  • Shower after 48 hours. Walk daily. No heavy lifting until I clear you.
  • A kidney scan a few months after stent removal confirms the kidney is draining well.
