Ureteral Reimplant: Recovery

Ureteral Reimplant: Recovery

  • Most patients stay one night. A bladder catheter usually stays a few days.
  • An internal stent protects the repair, usually for about 4 to 6 weeks, and is removed in the office.
  • Bladder spasms, urgency, and blood in the urine are common while the stent is in.
  • Shower after 48 hours. Walk daily. No heavy lifting until I clear you.
  • Follow-up imaging confirms good drainage after the stent is out.
