Male Urinary Incontinence
What to expect
- You may have a catheter overnight.
- For the first days, your stream may be slower or harder to start. This usually improves.
- Leakage often improves right away and can keep improving over the following weeks.
- Soreness between the scrotum and anus is common. A cushion helps when sitting.
Let the sling heal in place
For about 6 weeks, avoid:
- Deep squatting
- Heavy lifting
- Straddle activities: bike, motorcycle, horseback riding
Daily care
- You can usually shower after 48 hours.
- Avoid constipation with fluids and a stool softener.
- No sex until I clear you.
